I have teamed up with paulaschoice to share my #CourageOverComfort moments and what it means to me. .
My entire life, I have always been so afraid to do or say the wrong thing in case it would trigger a reaction from someone (family, friends or even acquaintance).
.
Recently, I am learning to stand up and be unafraid to show the world who I am, flaws and all, and know that no matter what “they” say, I am enough. I matter. My voice is important. My life, my way! I have learned people always have an opinion especially if you are successful. It definitely takes #courageovercomfort to voice my opinion. #choosethefight #ad #sponsored.

You know something cool about being courageous? There are a lot of moments in your everyday that allow you to choose it over comfort.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
When you’re at home, in an app-based rideshare, or casually chatting at work, the moment someone utters something unsettling - be it an ignorant comment about undocumented individuals, a condescending way to describe someone who doesn’t have a place to call home, or a patriarchal, infantilizing remark about a young woman’s wardrobe choices - you can say something and start a conversation!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If it’s someone you’re not close to, ask them a question. “Can you tell me what you mean by using that word?”
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Or try this:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
“I heard you say [this offensive phrase] but I think you meant [this ethical, empathetic way of describing it].”
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
When I was in a car on the way to LAX a few months ago, my driver was saying the grossest things about a beautiful young woman walking by in a mini skirt.
We had a respectful conversation about agency, bodily autonomy, and it was pleasant, albeit tiresome. He THANKED ME and said he would think about that conversation for a long time because there were a lot of things he’d never considered before.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I hope you #ChooseTheFight today. Thanks to paulaschoice for starting this movement

I was asked by paulaschoice to share a story of choosing #courage over #comfort & the first thing that came to mind was my recent blog post on my #anxiety. I’ve been dealing with anxiety for a few years now, and it has definitely not been easy. If my blog post can help one person not feel alone, then sharing my story was worth it 🙌🏼 if you missed it, head to blondemeetscity.com or tap the link in my bio #ChooseTheFight #ad swipe ➡️ for outfit deets
Sorry if this is lengthy...
Seven years ago I got an ineligibility letter from California BRN (ineligible to take NCLEX RN for California), I was devastated! I really wanted to give up since they want me to go back to school and redo 2 courses, but I didn’t. I applied for LVN, got my eligibility, took the exam and started working as LVN. Fast forward to 2017. One of the school that is an hour away from our town offered the program that I needed so I took that chance. My son was 3months old when I applied but as this saying goes “COURAGE OVER COMFORT” from paulaschoice . I took the courage to apply and finally be able to work as what I went to school for. That year was rough, there was no comfort but I had all the courage to do what’s best for me and my family. I managed to go to school and still work full time. My husband had to work part time and ended up quitting his job to watch our son so that I can go to school, study and do all home works when I get home. Now, every time I look back, I can say, i’m glad I made that first step. Life will never be easy, just always believe in yourself, do everything you can and God will provide. I am everyday grateful! FAITH. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 #ChooseTheFight #sponsored
It took me a while to figure out what I wanted to share for my Good Fight Story for paulaschoice campaign. I try to be courageous in my daily living but I think what takes me out of my comfort zone is something that I don’t normally talk about. And that is my love of God and my belief in having faith in Jesus Christ.
My life has taken many twists and turns and I never thought I would be where I am today without the Lord’s many blessings. I lost my first husband to cancer when my two boys were 7 and 4. Being a single mom was a scary proposition. How would I survive? Through God’s many gifts, I have thrived and found new love with my husband Michael. (We just celebrated our 5th Wedding anniversary.) My boys are healthy and happy. God is good! We just need to trust and surrender to Him every single day.
I hope to continually step out of my comfort zone and remember that He is in charge and all will be well. Through Him, I will keep up the Good Fight. #ChooseTheFight #paulaschoice #keepingthefaith #timetogetreal
As part of a collaboration with paulaschoice, I was asked to post a picture in this super soft tee and talk about a time when I chose courage over comfort. This assignment couldn’t have fallen at a better time in my life as I’ve been dealing with identity theft for the past 5 days or so, been trying to sort through the fact that #deltaairlines broke our stroller in half (literally split right down the middle) on our flight home from Orlando, and the stress of it all has taken a serious toll on my skin causing a terrible breakout all over my face (as depicted above in this photo). So basically I’m choosing courage over comfort by spending over 2 hours on the phone with 3 different credit agencies, 4 different credit card companies, the police department, the federal trade commission and god knows who else trying to get this resolved on my own because no one seems willing to help.
I’m choosing courage over comfort by trying to stay calm and understanding of accidents and remain appreciative of the fact that delta has accepted full responsibility for our broken stroller and is working to get me a new one.
I’m choosing courage over comfort by posting the worlds worst photo of myself, stress acne and all, for the world to see because the truth is that we are all fighting our own battles and there should be more “truth” on social media.
So here it is ladies and gents. A raw, unedited look at someone who is feeling very defeated, very tired and very stressed out. But this too shall pass and in the meantime it’s time to put on my big girl panties, find some benzoyl peroxide stat and deal with it 🤷🏼♀️ .

You won’t normally find me in T-shirts but when paulaschoice asked me to share a story of when I stood up for what’s right and chose “courage over comfort” I gladly obliged! I know I have mentioned the toxic environment that I previously worked in but there was so much more. Towards the end, I finally got the courage to file a complaint about a male coworker regarding his inappropriateness. Unfortunately, since the environment was not pro-women, instead of truly looking into my complaint, I was targeted by the company and they in turn made false accusations against me as to why I filed the complaint and instead issued me a warning. It was not just toxic but also became a hostile environment. I made the courageous decision to walk away even though I already knew I was pregnant. That actually pushed me more because there was no way I wanted to be among those that were not truly supportive while I was pregnant. This was completely out of my comfort zone but one of the best decisions I have ever made! #choosethefight #ad #courageovercomfort #womensupportingwomen #bossbabe #paulaschoice
Next Up, Products
With the ethos of Paula’s Choice firmly established, we needed to get the word out about the incredible products. We chose the launch of Paula’s Choice Omega+ Complex line as our starting point and conceptualized and produced a pop up shop for magazine editors, online editors and both macro and micro beauty influencers based in the New York area. Building off the lightweight and airy consistency of the products, we built a space staged with clouds against a sky backdrop, with multiple activations for photo and video. 175 people attended the event, which we followed up with a mailer to an additional 150 people across the country. The creative campaign results in more than 400 pieces of content reaching 32.7 million followers.
